CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Nursing assistants, sometimes called nurse aides, assist in the care of patients.
- They work under the direction and supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs).
- Nursing assistants have a great deal of contact with patients and provide personal care such as bathing, feeding, and dressing.
- They also perform support functions such as transporting patients, taking vital signs, making beds, helping patients become ambulatory, and answering patient calls.
- Nursing assistants are often responsible for observing and reporting how patients respond to the care that is being given.
- To be a successful nursing assistant, an individual must be a team player who is able to take orders well.
- They must also be emotionally stable and have a great deal of patience.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Description: The Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program curriculum is approved by the Illinois department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education.This is a 6 weeks course of study comprising of eighty (80) hours of theory and forty (40) hours of clinical instructions and demonstrating competence in the 21 Performance skillsUpon successful completion of the program requirements, students are eligible to take the State Competency examination. Students will be provided with exam information and application to take the State competency exam.
Tuition: $850 for Classroom and skills lab and clinical activities ONLY.$1000 includes classroom, skills lab, and clinical activities, uniform, stethoscope and text book.An Orientation session is mandatory and must be attended prior to starting your first day of class. No exceptions.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PROGRAM ENTRY
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number
- Successful passing of an 80% or higher on Reading & Math Placement Exam
- Health/Physical Exam with corresponding lab tests within one year
- Pass a criminal background check. *
* Individuals with criminal abuse, theft or misuse of property records are denied access to nursing homes and therefore cannot
complete the program.

REGISTRATION
Students can register in person at the office or request an application by contacting the office. Early registration is encouraged. Registration dates and times for each Class schedule are printed in the Schedule of Classes.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The agency provides placement opportunities through our staffing and home health agency upon successful completion of the program, certification by the State of Illinois and an interview with the Chief managing Employee. Other job opportunities are available in nursing homes, hospitals, other home health agencies, and community based residential facilities. Job placement priorities will be given to our graduates of Vintage Training Institute.
